Jaw and TMJ Disorders
TMJ (Temporomandibular joint)
What a word - let’s break it down: The temporomandibular (tem-puh-roe-man-DIB-u-lur) joint or, JOINT PAIN to make it even easier :)
You have one joint on each side of your jaw - the joint between your lower jaw and your scull, just in-front of your ear. The TMJ acts like a sliding hinge, connecting your jawbone to your skull and it helps you to speak, eat, jawn, etc.
Some problems caused by TMJ:
Pain in the jaw
Struggling to fully open your mouth
Clicking, locking sounds in the joints
Headaches
Difficulty and pain with chewing
Ear and teeth pain, including ringing in the ear
Left untreated, TMJ disorder can lead to significant health problems, including chronic pain and inflammation.
